Arnold's Landing is the site of Benedict Arnold's camp in Solon. The Forks and Moxie GorgeMoxie Falls: The highest falls in the northeast. 1 ½ miles round trip loop. Hike through woods and on marked trails. We also have a list of several other beautiful water falls. Scenic Moose RoutesScenic Moose Routes…we have a hand out list! Look for moose out on our trails, too! Moosehead Lake (boat, plane and jeep rides)The S/S Katahdin, a restored 1914 steamboat ferries passengers around the lake in summer months. Great way of seeing MOOSE! Moosehead Marine MuseumThe Museum offers a collection of photographs and memorabilia from the lake's steamboat history. Rafting AdventuresWhite water rafting is available on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers. The Kennebec River is famous for its remote wilderness setting, consistent summer long flows and big roller coaster waves. The Dead River's spring runoff and heavy water releases make for the best big whitewater in New England. We are the closest KOA to the Rafting Rivers. Crash Site of the B 52Gravel Roads pass by the crash site making it a short 400 yard hike to view the wreckage remains of this B-52 still on the side of Elephant Mountain. The vertical stabilizer came off the plane falling to the ground 1.5 miles from where the plane impacted the mountain side. Look for the yellow B-52 Bomber Crash signs. Old Fort WesternExperience a National Historic Landmark. Old Fort Western is America's oldest surviving wooden fort - a reminder of the great contest of cultures that dominated New England life 250 years ago. Includes military, store-keeping and household history on the Kennebec River in Augusta Maine. Augusta State Capital House & Blaine HouseMaine State MuseumThe Museum presents exhibits of Maine's natural environment, prehistory, social history, and manufacturing heritage. This is one of the outstanding reasons to visit Maine. Sunday and Monday - closed; Tuesday - Friday 9:00 to 5:00; Saturday - 10:00 to 4:00. Closed all State Holidays.
